The first two general public tours of  Assay Office Birmingham's Silver visits programme 2014 took place today and were as popular as ever. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="448"]IMG_4224 Ready Steady Go... and the tour begins![/caption] Attendees learnt about The history of Assay Office Birmingham and The Jewellery Quarter before having a tour of the private silver collection and library. The sun even shone throughout to make it a wonderful start to this year's tours programme. Usually these visits are only available to organised groups, so this is a unique opportunity to see the spectacular Silver Collection, the Library, and to hear about the history of hallmarking and The Birmingham Assay Office. IMG_4230 Visitors will be met with a warm welcome, including coffee and biscuits before the visit, and afterwards, in the Gift Shop, they will be able to buy gifts such as books and silver items all made in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and hallmarked at The Birmingham Assay Office.  There are also lots of Gift ideas for that someone special….. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="448"]IMG_4242 The Library at Assay Office Birmingham - A treat for bookworms![/caption] The Silver Collection Visit will take place on Monday 28th April and Thursday 26th June at The Birmingham Assay Office, with the option of a morning visit at 11.00am or an afternoon visit at 2.00pm.
